Ruben Amorim has broken his silence over a Manchester United player’s potential role against Lyon in the Europa League after the Newcastle match on Sunday.
The Red Devils travelled to St James’ Park on the weekend and Newcastle inflicted a 4-1 win over Manchester United in their thumping Premier League performance.

Ruben Amorim made the big call to leave Andre Onana out of the Manchester United first-team squad that visited St James Park’ for Sunday’s 4-1 defeat.
Andre Onana made two major howlers in United’s clash with Lyon in France and the 29-year-old Cameroonian came under huge criticism over his display on the night.
Amorim dropped Onana for the Newcastle match and Altay Bayindir took his place between the sticks for his Premier League debut for the Red Devils.
Onana’s performance against Lyon in the first leg of the Europa League quarter-finals has raised question marks over his place as United No 1 under Amorim.
Amorim was asked if the ex-Ajax and Inter Milan star could return against Lyon and the 40-year-old United manager insisted that people must be patient over his call.
“You guys have to wait,” he said, as per Manchester United’s official website.
“We are going to start the next week tomorrow and then I’m going to choose the best starting XI for the next one.”

Amorim brushed aside the criticism towards Bayindir after his disappointing display and he insisted that United must “focus” on their upcoming Europa League clash.
“What I say is I continue to do the same,” he said.
“We are going to analyse the game but we need to focus on the next one. We cannot change this one.
“The next one is massive for us. Let’s focus on the next one, to play better and win the game.”
United host Ligue 1 outfit Lyon at Old Trafford for their Europa League quarter-final return-leg tie on Thursday evening, with kick-off slated for 8pm UK time.
