The international break again came at the wrong time for Manchester United, but Ruben Amorim will be delighted to see the dream scenario unfold for his key player.
The 2-0 win against Sunderland was arguably the most complete performance from Man Utd against 11 men this season in both phases of the game.
Now, they faced a nervous two-week break before a marquee trip to Anfield, a fixture for which Ruben Amorim will want his players in peak condition and form.

That’s what happened with one player to start the international break, who had the dream scenario unfold for him.

Bryan Mbeumo gets best of both worlds
Any club manager wants two things from their players during the international break, the second of which completes the dream.
The first is that they receive ample rest instead of being run into the ground, which Bryan Mbeumo did in Cameroon’s game against Mauritius.
Mbeumo came off the bench and played just 15 minutes in a game that was already in Cameroon’s hands by then.
The second is that the player shows good form, or, in Mbeumo’s case, keeps up his good form, as he has been United’s biggest attacking threat.
Even that happened against Mauritius, as Mbeumo managed to make his mark on the game with a goal in injury time to seal a 2-0 win for Cameroon.
Therefore, both wishes came true. Mbeumo got rested with just a 15-minute cameo, and he still managed to get himself a goal to keep his good run going.
Ruben Amorim couldn’t have asked for anything more.
Mbeumo will be crucial for Ruben Amorim against Liverpool
Amorim will be delighted because Cameroon’s next game is on 13th October, so Mbeumo will get plenty of rest before United travel to Anfield on October 19.
The attacker will be Amorim’s most important player against Liverpool due to his ability to stretch defences with his running.
United are expected to cede possession in that game and play direct to Sesko, in which case Mbeumo running beyond Sesko to get on the end of second balls will be crucial.
Moreover, now that he has found his scoring boots in addition to assisting goals, Amorim will know he has a player full of confidence, ready to take chances that come his way.
The international break is a nervous time for most club sides, but from Mbeumo’s perspective, it couldn’t have gone any better.
