Ruben Amorim and Manchester United are yet to see the partnership they are excited about the most, but the two are already ‘completely different’ in one aspect off the pitch.

Matheus Cunha and Bryan Mbeumo are Man Utd’s two summer signings so far, and quality over quantity is the mantra Ruben Amorim must be preaching.

Cunha has shone in both games so far, while Mbeumo’s Man Utd debut is coming soon after he was deemed not ready for the game against West Ham.

Amorim lifted the lid on the dressing room dynamic already developing between the two, with their ‘completely different’ personalities presenting an interesting wrinkle.

Ruben Amorim on Matheus Cunha and Bryan Mbeumo

Cunha and Mbeumo together add 35 Premier League goals to a team that scored 44 as a whole in a tragic 2024/25 season.

With their roles in the XI so clear as the two attacking midfielders, Man Utd fans are expecting them to carry the load that has overburdened Bruno Fernandes far too much in recent years.

Cunha is a popular man in the Man Utd dressing room already, and speaking to NBC before the game, Amorim said Mbeumo’s personality is a fun combination in contrast.

He said: “[Cunha] is really loud in the dressing room. I love that about him. He’s completely different from Bryan [Mbeumo] who is the opposite. It’s really fun to combine all the characters and the talent.”

Amorim’s wish is getting fulfilled

Amorim clearly wants a new striker as well, and his transfer demand from Ineos after the Leeds game was pretty clear too, but his one wish has been fulfilled with Cunha and Mbeumo.

Both players, in their own way, are leaders in the dressing room, something the Man Utd manager was desperate for last season.

Cunha is the one who pulls up a relaxed attitude in his teammates and calls them out, while Mbeumo is an under-the-radar character who leads by example, and others follow him due to his quality.

They each share a trait with Fernandes in that regard, and the hope will be that they grow in influence with time and are helped by their own displays.

Team bonding and the spirit in the dressing room have been repeatedly mentioned by Amorim as the key ingredients of a successful team.

Cunha and Mbeumo’s contrasting personalities offer the perfect balance to get there.
