Ruben Amorim reveals hidden change that has affected all Man Utd players under him, it is now ‘different’ in his eyes

Manchester United manager Ruben Amorim has insisted that there has been one “important” — and subtle — change that has happened during his time at Old Trafford.

Ruben Amorim arrived at Old Trafford last November from Sporting CP and succeeded Erik ten Hag as Manchester United manager amid the current season.

Erik ten Hag had been sacked as United manager in 2024 after the Red Devils’ poor start to the 2024-25 Premier League campaign.

Ruud van Nistelrooy, who was assistant manager under Erik ten Hag, steered the ship at Old Trafford for four matches before Amorim became United boss.

Amorim has remained firm in his convictions amid United’s mixed performances under him, including sticking with his preferred tactical system.

The 40-year-old United head coach, who inked a contract until June 2027, is the Red Devils’ sixth permanent manager since Sir Alex Ferguson retired in 2013.

Amorim on big Man Utd change

Ruben Amorim will be keen for Manchester United to bounce back on Saturday for their Premier League trip to Goodison Park to face Everton.

The Red Devils slipped to a 1-0 defeat to Spurs at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium last Sunday and United now languish in 15th place in the Premier League table.

Amorim’s men are 12 points clear of the Premier League relegation zone and a point behind a resurgent 14th-place Everton side under David Moyes.

Speaking ahead of Saturday’s clash, the former Sporting CP manager claimed that a noticeable change at United has been the “sound” of training under him.

“They are improving, creating relationships, even the sound of the training is different, but we have to use that in the game and we have to take that step,” he said, as per the Manchester Evening News.

“I feel in training we are bonding and understanding the way we want to play, but then in a game, we struggle a lot.”

What does Amorim mean by Man Utd sound?

Amorim was asked about his sound comment again and the United manager offered his perspective on the visible change in his eyes at Old Trafford.

According to the Portuguese coach, the change in sound can be ‘felt’ in the “environment” and it comes from all of the different noises in training.

“The sound is like when you are training and you are making [sic] an exercise – you feel the sound,” he added.

“People are talking, asking for the ball, giving directions and talking with each other. You can feel it in the environment.

“If you spend your life as a player and a coach, even the sound of the training is important and I feel we are changing that.”
