Ruben Amorim has spoken out on two key first-team Manchester United players and their roles in the remainder of the Europa League run and the Premier League season.
Manchester United will resume their Premier League campaign on Sunday afternoon, with the Red Devils hosting West Ham at Old Trafford in their next fixture.
The Red Devils have only three Premier League matches remaining in their 2024-25 campaign and United languish in 15th place in the table amid a woeful run of form.
United will end the current season with their worst finish in the Premier League era and the Red Devils are now unable to climb back into the top half of the table.
Ruben Amorim’s men have only managed 10 wins from 35 Premier League matches and the Red Devils have lost a whopping 16 times alone in their league campaign.
The 40-year-old United manager has seen better success for the Red Devils in the Europa League and the Premier League club are now through to the 2025 final.
United came from behind to beat Athletic Club 4-1 at Old Trafford in the second-leg Europa League semi-final tie on Thursday evening.
The Europa League is United’s only real shot of getting back into Europe for the 2025-26 season and winning the trophy would secure Champions League football.

Ruben Amorim has had to tap into the full extent of his Manchester United first-team squad amid the Red Devils’ progression in the 2024-25 Europa League campaign.
The former Sporting CP boss hasn’t been afraid to drop key first-team players from his starting XI in the Premier League and rotation has been important for Amorim.
Speaking at his pre-match press conference for the West Ham clash, Amorim was asked what he will do with Bruno Fernandes and Harry Maguire in the Premier League.
The United head coach said that Bruno Fernandes and Harry Maguire could play in the Premier League again, despite United reaching the 2025 Europa League final.
“No, they will play because sometimes it’s better to play,” he explained, as per Manchester United’s official website.
“What I will protect is the players [who] can get an injury. For example, Bruno, or the last game before Tottenham, but we moved the game to the Friday against Chelsea.
“So, we’ll have time to recover. We want to win and to be competitive, also in the Premier League.
“Bruno doesn’t have the problem of any injury [touches wood], but Harry has.
“So, we have to manage that, but they have to play and it is better to play than to stay out.”

Amorim admitted that he expects his United players to fight for a place in the Red Devils squad for the 2025 Europa League final clash against Tottenham on 21st May.
“I don’t know. I expect, for example, like I said, some players we have some doubts that they will recover,” he said.
“They will push forward a little bit and we have to manage that and not take the risk and to have big issues.
“Of course, they will fight for the places, they will be really excited and that is a good thing, not just for the final but also to prepare for the games of the Premier League with something in our mind that we can win, it is going to be massive.”
United and West Ham’s Premier League clash is slated for 2:15pm UK time at Old Trafford on Sunday.
