Roy Keane disagreed with Ian Wright and Roberto Martinez over one Manchester United star’s performance against Wigan and said that he would be “fuming” with the player.
Diogo Dalot fired United into a first-half lead against Wigan in the third-round FA Cup tie before Bruno Fernandes slammed home a penalty in the second half.
United’s comfortable 2-0 win at the DW Stadium on Monday evening ensured their progression to the fourth round of the FA Cup.
The Red Devils will now face the winner of Newport County and Eastleigh’s third-round FA Cup replay in the next stage of the competition.
United manager Erik ten Hag walked away from the Wigan match with several high points, including a stellar performance from Alejandro Garnacho.
However, United fans were equally disappointed with other points of the performance, specifically Scott McTominay’s shortcomings in midfield.

Wright and Martinez on Rasmus Hojlund
Rasmus Hojlund endured a frustrating night at the DW Stadium after the United striker failed to add his name to the scoresheet against Wigan.
The 20-year-old United star was able to break his long-running Premier League goalscoring drought near the end of 2023 in his side’s 3-2 win over Aston Villa.
However, Hojlund was far from clinical in the final third against Wigan and missed a hat-trick of opportunities for United in the first half alone.
Speaking on Hojlund’s performance, both Arsenal legend Wright and Portugal manager Martinez sympathised with the Denmark striker’s struggles.
“I heard Ally [McCoist] say you feel for him, and as a striker you do,” Wright said.
“But there are some of the chances that we’ve seen in this game you have to take them.”
Martinez added: “He’s such a committed player and gives you so much.
“I think it’s unfair now just to judge him on goals but, of course, he’s a No 9 for Manchester United, he has a big price tag.
“You have to score goals. But he is not doing anything wrong on those chances.
“In a moment of confidence, the ball hits you and goes into the back of the net.”
Keane disagrees with Wright and Martinez
Hojlund was withdrawn in second-half injury time and replaced with Hannibal Mejbri, who is linked with a move away from Old Trafford in the January transfer window.
The Denmark international has scored once in 15 Premier League appearances for United and five times in six Champions League appearances this season.
Keane staunchly disagreed with Wright and Martinez’s sympathies towards Hojlund and insisted that the United striker is “missing his chances.”
Speaking in the ITV studio, he said: “You’re too kind, you’re too kind, I’d be fuming with him.
“Tonight, they [Man United] brought their habits from the Premier League in terms of missing chances, and not being clinical. I want to see that side of United tonight.
“With the striker, he’s missing his chances, so we can say unlucky, oh dear. Create opportunities, put them in the back of the net, stop messing about!”
