Manchester United are into the fourth round of the FA Cup after a win against Wigan Athletic at the DW Stadium.
The 2-0 scoreline did not reflect Manchester United’s dominance, with the usual wastefulness in front of goal managing to keep the result respectful from a Wigan perspective.
There were good signs from Manchester United’s overall play, with manager Erik ten Hag selecting what looks like his preferred front three of Marcus Rashford, Rasmus Hojlund and Alejandro Garnacho.
Garnacho has been a revelation on the right wing for United since recently switching over from the left, winning the December player of the month award.

Garnacho praised
Alejandro Garnacho was one of the standouts in Manchester United’s one-sided performance against the Latics.
The Argentine rattled a shot against the crossbar from long range, and was a constant threat, with one pinpoint cross for Rasmus Hojlund creating a really good chance for the striker.
He was picked out for praise by BBC Sport pundit, former women’s footballer Izzy Christiansen, who astutely noted the teenager’s contribution.
She said: “Garnacho down that right hand side has been absolutely unstoppable this half.
“Manchester United have been electric at times across that front three. I really like the look of Hojlund, Rashford and Garnacho.”
Garnacho is now a regular
Erik ten Hag’s team selection was made less complicated by Amad and Antony missing the game through illness.
But even so, Alejandro Garnacho probably would have been selected as a starter. He has now made 19 starts in all competitions for Manchester United this season, and has proven he is more than just an impact player to come off the bench.
