Robbie Savage and Owen Hargreaves both initially hesitated in awarding a score out 10 for Manchester United manager Ruben Amorim’s reign at Old Trafford so far.
Ruben Amorim became the sixth permanent Manchester United manager of the post-Sir Alex Ferguson era after his arrival at Old Trafford in 2024.
United triggered a £9.25m release clause to land the 40-year-old Portuguese manager from Primeira Liga outfit Sporting CP last November.
Erik ten Hag was sacked as United manager in October 2024 after the Red Devils’ poor start to the 2024-25 Premier League season.
Ruud van Nistelrooy took charge at Old Trafford after Erik ten Hag was axed and he led the Premier League club for four matches ahead of Amorim’s arrival.
Amorim has overseen a mixed tenure so far at the Red Devils, with the former Sporting CP boss navigating a tricky 2024-25 season for United.

Savage and Hargreaves score Amorim at Man Utd
Manchester United languish in 12th place in the Premier League table, but Ruben Amorim has seen better results in the Europa League with the Red Devils.
Erik ten Hag secured three draws in United’s first three Europa League matches this season before the Dutchman was dismissed from his role at Old Trafford.
Ruud van Nistelrooy picked up United’s first win in the Europa League in the 2024-25 campaign and the Red Devils won their next four matches under Ruben Amorim.
United punched their ticket to the knockout rounds of the Europa League on Thursday evening after a 2-0 win over FCSB on Thursday evening.
Amorim’s side finished third in the Europa League table and were only one point behind second-place Athletic Club and first-place Lazio after eight matches.
The Red Devils, who didn’t lose a single match in the league phase format, will now face AZ Alkmaar, Midtjylland, Real Sociedad or Galatasaray in the round of 16.
TNT Sports presenter Jules Breach asked Robbie Savage and Owen Hargreaves for their current ratings for Amorim’s tenure at United so far.
Hargreaves admitted that it was a “tough” question before saying he would only hand out a “four” out of 10 rating for United manager Amorim.
“Ohh. Jules. Tough. I mean… four [at] max,” he said on TNT Sports.
Savage, much like Hargreaves, was critical of United’s run so far under Amorim and the TNT Sports pundit dropped an even lower rating of “three” out of 10.
Speaking on Amorim, he said: “The big games, City, done well. Arsenal, done well. I’ll say a three.”
Amorim on Man Utd result vs FCSB
Amorim admitted that he was happy to see Diogo Dalot and Kobbie Mainoo both score for the Red Devils in the National Arena in Bucharest.
“Diogo has already had some chances in different games,” he said at his post-match press conference, as per Manchester United’s official website.
“Kobbie Mainoo played in a different position, with more freedom, more near the box. He’s so technical, he can change the game there.
“So, I think it’s a good position for him, we will see. But I’m happy to see Kobbie enjoy the game more.
“Sometimes, he’s worrying about the recovery [runs], trying to defend and I know that he’s trying.
“Today, I felt Kobbie enjoyed the game more and I am happy for that.”
