Rio Ferdinand made his feelings clear on Ruben Amorim’s assessment of Manchester United after the ex-Sporting CP manager arrived at Old Trafford in November.

Ruben Amorim has had a mixed start to life in England as Manchester United manager after winning four of his first nine matches in charge of the club.

The 39-year-old Portuguese manager inked a deal with United until June 2027 after the Red Devils activated the £9.25m release clause in his Sporting CP contract.

Amorim left Sporting CP and arrived at the Premier League club at the start of the November break, with the United manager succeeding Erik ten Hag in the dugout.

Erik ten Hag was sacked as United manager in late October after a poor start to the season and Ruud van Nistelrooy took over as interim manager for four matches.

Ruud van Nistelrooy, who is now the head coach of Leicester City, won three matches and picked up one draw before he left Old Trafford in November.

Ruben Amorim has seen Manchester United’s form take a big hit in the Premier League, with the Red Devils losing three of their five league matches.

United thrashed Everton 4-0 at Old Trafford earlier this month before the Red Devils lost 2-0 away at Arsenal and suffered a 3-2 defeat to Nottingham Forest at home.

Amorim’s men bounced back with a stunning 2-1 comeback win against Manchester City at the Etihad before Bournemouth humiliated United at Old Trafford on Sunday.

Rio Ferdinand took to social media platform X, formerly known as Twitter, on Monday in the aftermath of Bournemouth’s 3-0 Premier League win.

The 46-year-old United legend reacted to a clip making the rounds of Amorim, who spoke in November about the “risk” that the club would need to take under him.

“Facts,” Ferdinand wrote, adding a hundred points emoji.

What did Amorim say about Man Utd in November?

Amorim kicked off his reign at the Premier League club with a 1-1 draw against Ipswich Town at Portman Road in the aftermath of the November break.

Speaking after the Premier League match, Amorim insisted that he wanted to implement his plans at United right now rather than wait until next season.

“It is hard for the players in three days to try to cope with everything, but we have two ways: we forget about the new idea – and I think that’s why I was brought here in the middle of the season – and we try to cope with what they are used to doing,” he said, as per Manchester United’s official website.

“And next year, at the same stage, we will be here with the same problems.

“Or we start now, we risk a little bit, we suffer a little bit and next year we will be better at this point. So, we have to risk it a little bit.”
