Peter Schmeichel did not hold back on Manchester United’s performance after Bournemouth inflicted a 3-0 defeat on the Red Devils at Old Trafford on Sunday.
Ruben Amorim’s men dropped three important points and were left chasing the match on Sunday afternoon after a superb showing from Bournemouth.
The 39-year-old Manchester United manager once again saw the Red Devils’ vulnerability from set pieces after Bournemouth’s first-half opener at Old Trafford.
Dean Huijsen powered a header past United No 1 Andre Onana in the 29th minute after Ryan Christie picked him out from a Bournemouth free-kick out on the right.
Noussair Mazraoui then brought down Justin Kluivert in the second half and referee Craig Pawson pointed to the spot, only adding to United’s woes.
Justin Kluivert sent Andre Onana the wrong way and doubled Bournemouth’s advantage in the Premier League encounter.
Only two minutes after Kluivert converted from the spot-kick, Bournemouth added their third in the 63rd minute through Antoine Semenyo.

Schmeichel reacts to Man Utd performance
Manchester United languish in 13th place in the Premier League table and the Red Devils are nine points adrift from the top four after 17 league matches.
Ruben Amorim, who arrived from Sporting CP in November, faces a massive task on his hands at Old Trafford after United’s calamitous Premier League season so far.
Speaking on Premier League Productions, Peter Schmeichel pulled no punches towards the United players after their crushing defeat at the hands of Bournemouth.
The 61-year-old United legend insisted that the United players do not “really look like a team” and called their overall performance on Sunday “disappointing.”
“Very disappointing again,” Schmeichel said, as per UtdDistrict.
“Too many mistakes, and it doesn’t really look like a team.
“They had the opportunities at the end of the first half, didn’t take those chances, and then eventually you know they go 2-0 down [and] 3-0 down very quickly after that, and it just looks like they’re giving up.
“From that moment on, it just looked like the players individually tried to do something, I don’t know, just to show them in a good light or… Again, it’s just so disappointing. 3-0. Four times they’ve conceded three goals this season [at home].”
Amorim on Man Utd flaws vs set pieces
United will now return to action after Christmas when they travel away to the Molineux for their Premier League clash against Wolves on Boxing Day.
Speaking after Sunday’s 3-0 defeat, United manager Amorim admitted that he was disappointed once again to see the Red Devils’ frailty from set pieces.
“Yeah, without conceding nothing to the opponent and then one set-piece makes us more nervous, all of the stadium, I felt it,” he said at his post-match press conference, as Manchester United’s official website.
“Since the first minute, there’s a lot of anxiety – that’s normal because of the context and it’s really disappointing.
“We then created a lot of chances to score and that again, like against Tottenham, they score two goals and it’s really hard.
“After that third goal, it’s like everyone in the stadium is suffering – the fans, the players, everybody.
“It’s a tough moment but we have to face it and prepare for the next game.”
