Michael Owen completely baffled at what Man Utd star did vs Bournemouth, it was very ‘poor decision’ in his eyes

Former Liverpool and Manchester United striker Michael Owen pulled no punches towards one player during a key moment in the 3-0 defeat to Bournemouth.

Manchester United are currently 13th in the Premier League table and the Red Devils are left nine points adrift from fourth-place Nottingham Forest.

Andoni Iraola’s men arrived at Old Trafford on Sunday afternoon and outclassed the Red Devils with a superb showing in their Premier League encounter.

Bournemouth took the lead in the first half through Dean Huijsen before Justin Kluivert doubled the Cherries’ advantage from the spot-kick after the break.

Antoine Semenyo then added Bournemouth’s third only two minutes after the penalty and Andoni Iraola’s side walked away with all three Premier League points.

Owen’s reaction to Man Utd star

Noussair Mazraoui has been a standout performer for Manchester United this season since his summer move from Bayern Munich.

However, the 27-year-old former Ajax and Bayern Munich star deeply disappointed against Bournemouth and was at fault for Justin Kluivert’s penalty.

Noussair Mazraoui brought down Kluivert with a reckless challenge amid United chasing the match and referee Craig Pawson pointed to the spot.

Speaking on Premier League Productions, Michael Owen ruthlessly slammed Mazraoui for committing to a “stupid” tackle on Kluivert in Sunday’s defeat.

The 2001 Ballon d’Or winner insisted that Mazraoui should have been more tactical by ‘staying on his feet’ and ‘ushering’ Kluivert away.

“You’re being kind. A little rash? A little stupid more like,” Owen said, as per the Metro.

“What on earth are you doing? Two players are waiting for him, he’s not going to score from there and he dives in.

“Just stay on your feet and usher him away. It’s just a poor, poor decision.

“The sad thing from Manchester United these days is they go 1-0 down and you never really think they’re going to come back.

“They’re not a good team. Ruben Amorim needs to be watching that game and ensure these players that are not performing do not put on the shirt again. He needs to be that brutal and that ruthless.”

Man Utd boss Ruben Amorim switches focus

United have suffered back-to-back defeats across all competitions since their 2-1 Premier League comeback win against Manchester City at the Etihad.

The Red Devils were knocked out of the Carabao Cup quarter-finals against Tottenham on Thursday evening before the defeat to Bournemouth.

Speaking after the 3-0 loss at Old Trafford, Ruben Amorim insisted that United must bounce back and is looking ahead to the clash against Wolves on Boxing Day.

“I always expect [difficulties], especially in this busy month,” he said, as per Manchester United’s official website.

“It’s not different from what I expected, so we are ready to face the challenge.

“We have not a lot of time to work but there is another opportunity to change the momentum, so we will fight for the three points.”
