Rio Ferdinand has now named one Manchester United-linked player who would be more of a benefit for Slovenia striker Benjamin Sesko than a hindrance.
Benjamin Sesko closed out his debut season at Old Trafford in a strong run of form after his impact under Michael Carrick in the second half of the 2025-26 campaign.
The 22-year-old Slovenian forward netted 12 times and registered one assist in 32 matches across all competitions for Manchester United before the end of the season.
Sesko scored seven times in his last 13 Premier League matches under Michael Carrick after Ruben Amorim was sacked as Man Utd manager back in January.

Rio Ferdinand would sign Barcelona striker Robert Lewandowski amid Benjamin Sesko’s development at Man Utd
Benjamin Sesko missed the final three Premier League matches of the 2025-26 campaign for Manchester United due to an injury.
United legend Carrick has often rotated between Sesko and Bryan Mbeumo to lead the Red Devils frontline since his initial appointment at Old Trafford back in January.
Robert Lewandowski is set to leave Barcelona in the summer and Rio Ferdinand feels that the 37-year-old Polish striker should be a potential transfer option for United.
Speaking on Rio Ferdinand Presents, he said: “Lewandowski isn’t a bad shout either if they’re going to get another striker.
“If we brought him in, look at the experience he has, the amount of learning that Sesko will do…
“If you believe Sesko is the man for the next five years, the learning he could do behind Lewandowski, who is a wonderful, humble human being.
“He would teach and show Sesko the way and get him playing.”

Why Rio Ferdinand feels that Barcelona star Robert Lewandowski would not be a reckless signing for Man Utd
Robert Lewandowski’s contract with Barcelona expires in June and the Poland captain will be a free agent after his impactful spell at the Camp Nou.
Ferdinand insisted that the former Borussia Dortmund and Bayern Munich striker’s “presence” would make him a strong character for the United first-team squad.
“That would be a sensible signing even if the numbers might be crazy in terms of wages,” he added.
“If you’re trying to benefit the squad, he would be a great presence.
“It’s going to be a big and interesting summer to see who Manchester United go for.”
Lewandowski, who left Bayern Munich in 2022 and signed for Barcelona, has lifted three La Liga titles and a Copa del Rey during his superb spell at the Spanish club.
