Rafael da Silva gave Manchester United a reminder of his enduring quality as he helped Istanbul Basaksehir to a win over Ole Gunnar Solskjaer’s side.
The Brazilian put in a typically committed performance to show what he was all about.

Rafael threw himself in front of blocks, frequently raged at the referee, and gave absolutely everything for the Turkish side.
Now 30, Rafael joined Istanbul in the summer from Lyon.
He was thrilled to get drawn against United in the Champions League, following his 2015 departure.
Following his side’s win, he sent a respectful message out, and expressed how excited he will be to feature at Old Trafford in the next game.
There was a little question over whether Rafael would feature in this game, after missing out on Istanbul’s league game at the weekend.
He started this match and played all 90 minutes, and should have guaranteed his spot for the next group game.
Former United teammate Rio Ferdinand took to Twitter to bemoan the decision to sell the Brazilian.
Rafael became a fan favourite at Old Trafford with his full throttle displays and passion on full display.
It is good to see he has not changed, even if he did not help United’s cause last night.
