Ruben Amorim has been radio silent since being sacked as Manchester United head coach in January.
It has now been over four months since Ruben Amorim was sacked following a 1-1 draw with Leeds United in the Premier League.
Amorim is yet to send a message to fans or acknowledge his time at the club, and United moved on quickly with Michael Carrick now chasing Champions League qualification with the same squad.
There have been reports linking Amorim to the Crystal Palace job ahead of Oliver Glasner’s exit, but it seems he has other plans for the 2026/27 season.

What position would Man Utd be in NOW if Ruben Amorim was still head coach?

What Ruben Amorim is planning in 2026/27
Ruben Amorim has now been out of a job since January and he has stayed away from football in that time.
While his time at United was underwhelming, Amorim had huge success at Sporting Lisbon and was considered one of the most exciting, young head coaches in Europe before his move to Old Trafford.
Job offers will likely be on Amorim’s desk this summer, but Portuguese outlet A Bola claim that Amorim is planning to take a sabbatical year in 2026/27.
It is added that Amorim wants to use the time to: “strengthen his skills, exchange ideas with other coaches he considers role models, and deepen his knowledge”.
Should Manchester United have sacked Ruben Amorim earlier this season?
Could we really have been title contenders?
Where Ruben Amorim could make his managerial return
The A Bola report adds that Amorim has not completely ruled out a return to management before the summer of 2027.
But a return to Portugal is considered “out of the question”, so it seems Amorim is biding his time and waiting for opportunities.

This week, Ryan Giggs says Amorim deserves more credit for the job he did at United, and some Premier League chiefs may look favourably at the way he improved the culture at Old Trafford.
A Premier League return could be on the cards given Amorim’s ability to speak English. He is also fluent in Spanish so a return in La Liga should not be ruled out.
