Ruben Amorim linked with Premier League job four months after Man Utd sacking

Manchester United pulled the trigger and sacked Ruben Amorim in January after he lashed out at club owners.

Since Ruben Amorim was sacked after the 1-1 draw with Leeds United, there has been radio silence from the Portuguese coach.

Amorim has been embarrassed by Kobbie Mainoo since his departure, while Michael Carrick has also managed to step in and lead the same squad of players up to third in the Premier League table.

There has been no goodbye message from Amorim or his team since his United departure, but it seems the 41-year-old could yet make a Premier League return.

Ruben Amorim linked with Crystal Palace job

United-linked Oliver Glasner is leaving Crystal Palace in the summer, although it seems extremely unlikely that he will be given the permanent job at Old Trafford.

Palace are now busy looking for replacements, and according to Graeme Bailey at TeamTalk, Amorim is among the candidates.

The report claims that Coventry City boss Frank Lampard is currently the favourite for the job, but given he has just achieved Premier League promotion, he may want to stay with the Sky Blues.

Palace are therefore considering alternative targets, one of which is Amorim.

Amorim remains unemployed since his United exit, and his style of play would fit this Palace squad as a transition from Glasner.

Ruben Amorim 3-4-3 would suit Crystal Palace

One of Amorim’s biggest struggles at United was trying to implement his 3-4-3 formation into a squad that wasn’t ready for a tactical transition.

Amorim was tactically stubborn, but United’s results suffered as a result. He eventually changed to a four-at-the-back, but it ended up causing friction between him and the board at Old Trafford.

However, Glasner plays a 3-4-3 system at Palace and has built a squad who is now used to that shape.

It makes Amorim an ideal candidate to step in and replace Glasner at the helm, but it is yet to be seen whether he can be convinced to return to the Premier League.

If he does, United will line up to face Amorim next season.
