Ruben Amorim’s Man Utd legacy is in tatters, but Ryan Giggs has urged the fans to build it back up and credit him for the key detail in Michael Carrick’s success.
The success that Michael Carrick has achieved at Man Utd has left Ruben Amorim looking extremely embarrassed, and so has the way that success came about.
From restoring Kobbie Mainoo to the starting XI to pushing Bruno Fernandes further forward, Carrick has made the no-brainer decisions that had Man Utd fans pulling their hair out with Amorim.
Despite all that, Ryan Giggs firmly believes that Amorim is not getting enough credit for a key detail that is helping Carrick achieve all this success.

Ruben Amorim deserves ___ % credit for Michael Carrick’s BRILLIANT start at Man Utd
Fill in the blank. Did Amorim lay the foundation for success at Old Trafford?
Ryan Giggs says Ruben Amorim left Man Utd in a ‘good place’
For all his faults at Old Trafford, and there were too many to count by the end, one thing about Amorim was consistent at United.
He had firm non-negotiables about the players’ conduct and professionalism, and anyone who even toed that line was banished.
It resulted in the exits of Alejandro Garnacho, Antony, and even Marcus Rashford to a certain extent.
The dressing room, as a result, is now full of driven professionals who put the team before themselves, and according to Giggs, that’s the sign of a good manager.
Speaking on Rio Ferdinand’s YouTube channel, Giggs said that Carrick is benefiting from Amorim resetting the dressing room culture.
He said: “Ruben Amorim took a lot of stick for the way he played. I didn’t enjoy watching it, but actually, I think some of his signings have been good.
“His legacy isn’t great in terms of results and performances, but after a long time now, he’s left the club in a pretty good place.
“A sign of a good manager is the club he leaves behind, and he brought in a different culture that was better than the previous times.”
Giggs is only partly right about Amorim
Giggs’ point about Amorim engineering a cultural reset at Carrington is well-made, because that’s something other players in the Man Utd squad have said as well.
What position would Man Utd be in NOW if Ruben Amorim was still head coach?
Let's hear your views!!!
Diogo Dalot said that Amorim raised the standards of training every day, and Maguire has also previously praised him for his disciplined mentality.
Having said that, it’s hard to give Amorim credit for the signings made, since that was basically the point on which he blew up against Ineos.
Clearly, the signings were Ineos-driven and will continue to be, which means the exits would have happened regardless of who the manager was as well.
He kept in line the players he did have, for which he deserves credit, but the signings and exits are down to Ineos.
