Paul Scholes is Manchester United’s harshest critic. Sometimes he goes too far, but it’s from his own impeccable high standards and a memory of what the club used to be during his playing days.
So when he compliments Manchester United and or one of the players, you know they have done something right.
Scholes was a pundit for BT Sport’s coverage of Manchester United’s win over Club Brugge, and had kind words for striker Odion Ighalo.

Ighalo scored his first goal for United in the win, netting the team’s second on the night in a 5-0 victory.
It came after terrific interplay between Bruno Fernandes and Juan Mata, leaving the striker with a tap in.
Scholes said: “I am delighted for Ighalo, I think he’s looked really sharp.
“He’s not played for a while, we know that, and he’s shown great movement off the ball. He could even have had another.
“He’ll do a good job here, he’ll get chances created for him.”
Big moment
Ighalo’s goal made him the first ever Nigerian to score a goal for Manchester United.
He may only be here on a short term deal but he is inspiring future generations who will dream of following in his footsteps.
The goal will give Ighalo’s confidence a boost and remove any nagging doubt in his mind which would have built up the longer a goalless streak went on.

This was his first start and he should feel pretty pleased with how his first month has gone.
With Anthony Martial picking up an injury and missing this game, Ighalo is a probably starter at the weekend against Everton where he will go looking for his first Premier League goal for the club.
