Manchester United legend Paul Scholes has named his preferred manager to take over at the club.
The Ruben Amorim era at Manchester United is over, with Ineos firing him after 14 months in charge.
Darren Fletcher has been appointed as interim manager, with Manchester United now searching for a permanent successor.
Oliver Glasner is among the names linked, while even Ole Gunnar Solskjaer has been linked with a return.
Speaking on The Good, The Bad and The Football podcast, Nicky Butt and Paul Scholes agreed that Zinedine Zidane would be an intriguing candidate.
Now Scholes has named his preferred option.

Scholes wants Tuchel
The former Manchester United midfield great named three managers that really intrigue him. Two of these were Unai Emery and Andoni Iraola.
But Scholes added that his preference would be current England manager Thomas Tuchel.
Scholes believes Tuchel has the managerial quality and stature to handle Manchester United and the pressure that the job entails.
He said: “Number one for me which I’d do in the summer is Thomas Tuchel, all day long.
“I think Tuchel would bring the very best out of them.
“His contract with England is only to the summer.

“I think he can be a bit temperamental and he can be difficult to handle, but he’s done it at big clubs.
“He’s turned England around as well… England do look a lot better under him.”
One potential problem is the timing, with the World Cup going on until July 19.
If England go far at the tournament then this leaves very little preparation time for next season.

Paul Scholes says Tuchel is his number one choice
Scholes adds one doubt
Scholes says that while he likes Thomas Tuchel and would like him to be Manchester United manager, he says he is a little bit conflicted over style.
“His football is very possession based, and a little Man City. That’s my only reservation,” he added.
Tuchel has been linked with Manchester United before, even during the Ineos era.
Sir Jim Ratcliffe met with him in summer 2024, while Ineos were re-assessing Erik ten Hag’s future, but there was no common ground found.
Tuchel is now focused on the England job at the 2026 World Cup, and for all his qualities, we can’t quite see how the timing would work.
