Pundit Paul Scholes has now defended both Casemiro and Kobbie Mainoo after Manchester United’s 2-1 win over Brentford at Old Trafford on Monday evening.
Casemiro and Kobbie Mainoo were two of the standout performers for Michael Carrick’s men during the Red Devils’ latest Premier League encounter this season.
Mainoo was on the radar of Manchester United fans for his strong display across the 90 minutes, while Casemiro equally earned high praise from Red Devils supporters.
Casemiro added his name to the scoresheet inside the opening 15 minutes at Old Trafford after the Brazil midfielder fired United into the lead over Brentford.

Paul Scholes thinks Casemiro and Kobbie Mainoo both needed more support from other Man Utd players
Manchester United made a strong start against Brentford, but the Bees fought back against the Red Devils in an end-to-end Premier League match at Old Trafford.
Gary Neville singled out how both Bryan Mbeumo and Amad Diallo did not do enough to become more compact in the first half to help out the midfield area.
Michael Carrick made a key tactical change at half-time and a formation tweak after Amad Diallo was hooked off and Noussair Mazraoui took his place on the pitch.
Paul Scholes argued with fellow United legend Gary Neville that he felt that both Casemiro and Mainoo did not receive more support in the Red Devils’ midfield.
“I’m not saying it’s their fault, Casemiro and Mainoo, because when you’re exposed on that big pitch there, it’s horrible,” he said on The Overlap’s ‘Fan Debate’ show.
“It happened to us for years in Europe, which is why we had to change it and bring another one and play one up front.
“Now, with them wide players, as the guy said, if they’re not [tucked] in…”
Carrick says Top 5 isn’t enough. Honestly, based on his run, do you think we are a genuine Title Contender for next season?
Paul Scholes says Casemiro should have stepped up more and tapped into his experience during Man Utd’s win
Man Utd interim boss Carrick altered the dynamic of the Red Devils’ approach for the second half against Brentford after he made his half-time change on Monday.
Scholes added that Casemiro should have stepped up ahead of Carrick’s tweak by telling other United players around him to help him and Mainoo in midfield.
“Do you know what? Sometimes it’s not up to the manager, it’s up to the players,” he added.
“Casemiro, look at the experience he’s got. [He should have said] ‘Come here. You two get next to us here, we’re getting killed.’
“When we are exposing, [giving] chances away, it always comes through the middle.”
United are third in the Premier League table and the Red Devils will now host Liverpool at Old Trafford for their next fixture on Sunday afternoon.
