Mason Mount has recalled the key detail from Manchester United’s win over Liverpool while Ruben Amorim was still in charge of the Premier League club.
Liverpool hosted Manchester United earlier in the 2025-26 campaign and the Red Devils caused a stunning upset over the defending Premier League champions.
Bryan Mbeumo fired Man Utd into the lead over Liverpool inside the opening five minutes before Cody Gakpo pulled the Red Devils level in the second half.
However, Ruben Amorim’s men clinched an important victory at Anfield last October after Harry Maguire restored the Red Devils’ lead in the Premier League clash.

The Red Devils will now welcome rivals Liverpool to Old Trafford for the final encounter between the two Premier League clubs in the 2025-26 campaign.
However, Michael Carrick will now lead Manchester United into the Premier League showdown on Sunday after Ruben Amorim was sacked as head coach in January.
Mason Mount has now claimed that his Red Devils teammates must adopt the “same mentality” from the Liverpool match in 2025 for the upcoming one this weekend.
Speaking to Sky Sports, he said: “I think we’re going into it with the same mentality [as at Anfield].
“We’ve been on a good run recently and we need to carry that on. Four games left, let’s finish strong.”

Despite Amorim’s exit as Man Utd manager, United legend Michael Carrick has sparked the Red Devils’ top-four challenge since his January appointment.
Mount has insisted that the Red Devils’ main focus has been to challenge for a Champions League qualification spot, whether under Amorim or Carrick.
“That was the goal at the beginning of the season,” he added.
“Trying to finish as high as we can and Champions League football is massive for the club. It’s massive for the fans for next season.
“That’s what we’re striving to do. We’re in a good position, we just need to finish off strong.”
Man Utd are third in the Premier League table and are three points clear of fourth-place Liverpool ahead of their showdown with the Reds at Old Trafford.
