England cult hero Paul Gascoigne has made his feelings clear on what he would want to see from Manchester United this season as a “Sir Alex Ferguson fan.”
Erik ten Hag’s men kicked off their Premier League campaign with a 1-0 win over Fulham at Old Trafford thanks to summer signing Joshua Zirkzee.
However, Manchester United had a major setback on Saturday after suffering a late 2-1 defeat against Premier League side Brighton at the Amex.
Danny Welbeck had fired Brighton into the lead against his former side in the first half before Amad Diallo pulled United level in the second half.
United saw a controversial VAR decision against Joshua Zirkzee in the second half after Alejandro Garnacho’s strike deflected off the striker on the line.
Erik ten Hag’s side then dropped all three points in injury time after an unmarked Joao Pedro fired a bullet header from close range past Andre Onana.
United’s defeat to Brighton at the Amex has left Ten Hag’s men in 11th place in the Premier League table after their opening two league matches.

Gascoigne makes his Man Utd prediction
Manchester United now face a tough test on Sunday when they welcome Premier League rivals Liverpool to Old Trafford ahead of the September international break.
Erik ten Hag will be keen for his players to bounce back and produce a major result as part of their bid to secure a top-four Premier League finish this season.
United suffered their worst finish in the Premier League era under Ten Hag last season, with the Red Devils limping to eighth place in the league table.
Speaking to The Daily Mirror, Paul Gascoigne admitted that he would “love” to see United defy the odds and lift the Premier League title this season.
The Red Devils have not lifted the Premier League trophy since Sir Alex Ferguson bowed out of Old Trafford at the end of the 2012-13 campaign.
However, Gascoigne’s prediction is that United will finish fourth this season, with Manchester City, Arsenal and Liverpool tipped to be part of the top three.
“I’d love Manchester United to win just because I’m a Sir Alex Ferguson fan,” he said.
“I can see the top three being Arsenal, Man City obviously, and then Liverpool or Manchester United.”
Gascoigne on Man Utd and Ferguson
Ferguson is a huge admirer of Paul Gascoigne and the legendary former United manager famously failed to bring the England legend to Old Trafford.
Gascoigne had promised Ferguson that he would sign for the Red Devils before he made a stunning U-turn and inked a deal with Tottenham in 1988.
Ferguson admitted that he regretted not managing Gascoigne in his career, despite the 57-year-old England cult hero offering himself to United in the 1990s.
Gascoigne pointed out that Ferguson’s failure to sign him only benefited the United legend with the emergence of the famed ‘Class of ‘92’ players in the first team.
“They had Bryan Robson and Neil Webb in midfield and then Spurs came in and someone said you’d love playing for Terry Venables,” he said.
“[Spurs] offered me a house as well at that time. The next season, United brought in Beckham, Scholes, Butt, the Nevilles, Giggs and they ended up winning the league.”
