Patrick Dorgu says not even Bryan Mbeumo or another Man Utd teammate could rival him in 100m sprint race

Patrick Dorgu is fully confident that Bryan Mbeumo and another key first-team Manchester United star would not outpace him during a 100m sprint.

The 21-year-old Danish defender, who can also play as a winger, has established himself as an important Manchester United first-team pick under Michael Carrick.

United manager Michael Carrick was tactically using Patrick Dorgu as a left winger option alongside Matheus Cunha during the second half of the 2025-26 season.

Dorgu impressed during Carrick’s opening two matches as interim head coach in January before he missed the next 10 fixtures due to a hamstring injury.

Man Utd star Patrick Dorgu sends a message to Bryan Mbeumo and Joshua Zirkzee if they tried to race him

Patrick Dorgu did catch the tail end of Manchester United’s 2025-26 Premier League campaign after the Denmark international overcame his injury setback.

The Man Utd winger and full-back made 28 appearances across all competitions last season and Dorgu netted four times and registered four assists for his side.

Speaking to ESPN, former Lecce player Dorgu was asked which United first-team player would be most likely to emerge victorious from a 100m sprint race.

Dorgu backed himself to come out on top in a race with his Man Utd teammates, but he admitted that Bryan Mbeumo and Joshua Zirkzee would be his likely challengers.

“Me, Bryan, maybe Josh as well, ‘cause he [Zirkzee] has big, like long legs,” he said.

“I’ll back myself to come first, yeah.”

Patrick Dorgu is building momentum for Man Utd this summer after last season’s injury curtailed his run

Dorgu has played an active role in the pre-season campaign after Denmark failed to secure qualification for this summer’s World Cup tournament.

The Man Utd left-back has been deployed on the wing for the Red Devils’ opening summer tour matches against Wrexham and Rosenborg this month.

Dorgu played the first half of Man Utd’s 1-0 defeat to Wrexham before he was pulled off at half-time, while he featured for 60 minutes against Rosenborg on Friday.

The Red Devils star came close to scoring for United in the Rosenborg match after he saw his low-drive strike hit the post at the Lerkendal Stadion in Norway.
