Ole Gunnar Solskjaer is in line for a sensational return as Manchester United interim manager, according to reports.

The Athletic claim Solskjaer is the ‘leading contender’ for the role after holding talks with Ineos chiefs.

Darren Fletcher’s press conference

Darren Fletcher has held his press conference ahead of Manchester United’s fixture with Burnley at Turf Moor.

Fletcher has confirmed that Mason Mount and Bruno Fernandes are both available for selection against Burnley after injuries, although they will probably both be on restricted minutes.

The Scotsman says he is proud to be asked to take over, but admits it does not sit easily with him after Ruben Amorim’s sudden sacking.

He will be joined in the dugout by Travis Binnion, and a returning Jonny Evans.

Sam Mather set to leave

Manchester United have agreed the sale of young winger Sam Mather, according to the MEN.

Mather will sign with Turkish club Kayserispor in an attempt to restart his career, having failed to break through at United.

The 2022 FA Youth Cup winner saw his progress impacted by injuries, while he has also had loan spells in the National League.

Speculation continues over permanent boss

A top contender is yet to emerge for the permanent Manchester United manager position.

Links to Oliver Glasner have been played down, while David Ornstein believes Thomas Tuchel and Roberto de Zerbi are both names to watch.

Paul Scholes says Thomas Tuchel is his top choice as manager, believing the England boss could be tempted after the World Cup.
