Bruno Fernandes made Premier League history during Manchester United’s 3-0 win over Brighton.

Bruno Fernandes has now got 21 assists in a single season, meaning he has eclipsed the previous record holders: Kevin De Bruyne and Thierry Henry.

Now, Fernandes can look beyond the Premier League, and his figures are enough to elevate him alongside Lionel Messi.

Bruno Fernandes has matched Lionel Messi’s assist record

Earlier this week, Fernandes was crowned Player of the Season in the Premier League, and he proved why on Sunday afternoon.

Not only did Fernandes add to his assist tally, he also scored United’s third.

With 21 assists in a single league campaign, he is now joint top with Lionel Messi and Thomas Muller for the most in one season within a top-five league.

Both Messi and Muller achieved the feat in the 2019/20 season.

Fernandes has cemented his status as a Premier League legend, and also etched his name in the history books alongside Messi.
