Manchester United have acted early in the transfer window to try and start offloading players.

One of the constants during the past 10 years at Manchester United has been the need to get rid of the club’s deadwood.

Considering the club’s bizarre transfer and contract renewal policy, with players on high wages, it is a never-ending task.

Manchester United are at least taking a proactive approach in 2024. The first order of business was to send Donny van de Beek out on loan.

Donny van de Beek exit backed

Donny van de Beek has signed on loan for Eintracht Frankfurt until the end of the season. There are conditions to make the deal permanent.

Van de Beek had played just 21 minutes of football this season and his exit was overdue.

This is a sentiment felt by former Manchester United academy striker Danny Webber, who discussed the exit on MUTV.

Webber told The Debate: “He need to go and play football, and I think the Bundesliga is slower pace, it’s in between the Premier League and Eredivisie and I think its a good place for him.

“You see a lot of the time players go to Germany and find their form back. For him, he needs to play, he’s been on the bench recently and not had any minutes.”

Webber believes that even if Frankfurt do not end up buying Van de Beek, Manchester United will be in a stronger position.

He explained: “If he does well they buy him, if not he’s played games, and is in even better shape.”

Same applies to Jadon Sancho

The same reasoning can be applied to Jadon Sancho’s expected move to Germany, where he will rejoin Borussia Dortmund on loan.

Sancho is a top quality player who has become unattractive as a permanent option, due to the lack of football he has been playing.

With some extra game time under his belt at Dortmund, a bigger market will be created for his signature in the summer.
