Fabrizio Romano claims Donny van de Beek nearing Manchester United exit

Manchester United midfielder Donny van de Beek may finally move on in January with Eintracht Frankfurt pushing for a deal.

That is according to Fabrizio Romano, who claims that Donny van de Beek’s move to Germany is now ‘advancing’.

United will be looking to make more midfield changes in 2024 and letting Van de Beek go is surely one of the key plans.

The Dutchman just hasn’t made an impact at since United struck a deal worth up to £39million back in 2020.

Eintracht Frankfurt in talks to sign Donny van de Beek

Fabrizio Romano now reports that Bundesliga club Eintracht Frankfurt are leading the race to sign Van de Beek.

Romano claims that ‘talks are advancing’ for Van de Beek to make a move to Germany.

The move would be a loan with Frankfurt seemingly wanting to see Van de Beek in action before considering a permanent move.

La Liga surprise package Girona have also been chasing Van de Beek and have asked about a loan deal.

Frankfurt now appear to be leading the race though and Romano claims that a decision will be made ‘soon’ with the January transfer window approaching.

Even Erik ten Hag hasn’t brought Van de Beek back on track

Van de Beek excelled under Erik ten Hag at Ajax, hitting 27 goals and 24 assists in their final two seasons together in Amsterdam.

The 26-year-old suffered a slow start at United and a 2022 loan move to Everton really didn’t help him recapture his best form.

United then appointed Ten Hag as manager with many believing that he was the man to get Van de Beek back on track.

Instead, Van de Beek has barely featured under Ten Hag and has played just two minutes of Premier League action this season.

It’s clear that Ten Hag doesn’t think that he can recapture the old Van de Beek and a departure is best for all parties – even if initially on loan.
