Gary Lineker and Micah Richards both feel the same way about the quality of one experienced first-team Manchester United star under Ruben Amorim at Old Trafford.
Manchester United will return to action next Monday for their first match in the post-November international break, with the Red Devils hosting Everton at Old Trafford.
The Red Devils are undefeated in their last five Premier League matches and United have played back-to-back draws ahead of the November international period.
United’s last outing against Tottenham saw the Red Devils rescue a point at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium after a late comeback from Spurs earlier this month.
Tottenham fought back against United late in the second half and went 2-1 up before Matthijs de Ligt netted a superb injury-time equaliser for the Red Devils.

Gary Lineker and Micah Richards drop their verdicts on Luke Shaw’s role at Man Utd under Ruben Amorim this season
Luke Shaw has featured in a consistent run of matches for Ruben Amorim in the 2025-26 season after overcoming an injury-hit 2024-25 campaign at Old Trafford.
The 30-year-old left-back has been a key pick for the left-sided centre-back position in the three-man backline of Amorim’s tactical system for Manchester United.
Speaking on The Rest Is Football podcast, Gary Lineker suggested that Shaw could still be an invaluable option for England should Thomas Tuchel call him up.
“And don’t forget, don’t forget Luke Shaw,” he said, before adding: “A bit of experience.
“And he can play on the left side of a three, should Tuchel decide to do that, which I suspect he won’t.
“But he’s come back, playing really well at Man United. He’s a good player. Luke’s a good player.”
Which Man Utd player has most chance of playing for England at the World Cup?
Amorim has backed Shaw to return to England after the player’s season, despite Three Lions boss Thomas Tuchel not picking him for the November break.
Reacting to Lineker’s comments, Micah Richards added: “He’s a top player.
“You know, I know he gets a lot of stick, but he’s a really good player.”
Micah Richards tells Gary Lineker his only real concern about Man Utd and England star Luke Shaw
Thomas Tuchel has not ruled out a potential return to the England national team for Shaw, who was a key pick for former Three Lions boss Sir Gareth Southgate.
England have punched their ticket to the 2026 World Cup in North America and Shaw could still secure a place in the squad ahead of next summer’s tournament.
Despite Shaw’s role under United manager Amorim this season, Richards told Lineker what would be the only reason why he wouldn’t take him to the World Cup with England.
“The only thing is that I just, I wouldn’t take any chances,” he said.
“With players who have not played consistently over the last couple of seasons. I just don’t think it’s worth it.”
Shaw, who is out of contract with the club in 2027, has started and played in all 11 of United’s Premier League matches in the 2025-26 campaign so far.
