Former Manchester United youngster Maxi Oyedele has been speaking out after sealing his move to Legia Warsaw.

Maxi Oyedele’s move to Legia Warsaw became official shortly after he penned an emotional goodbye message.

Oyedele’s departure message brought well-wishes from Kobbie Mainoo among others, as he embarks on his new adventure.

The Poland under-21 international was part of Manchester United’s FA Youth Cup winning side in 2022. He did not start the final but he scored during the team’s run to win the competition.

Maxi Oyedele speaks out

Maxi Oyedele is deterrmined to make the most of his chance at Legia Warsaw, one of the biggest clubs in Poland.

Legia finished third in Poland’s top flight last season, missing out on the title by a small margin of just four points.

After five games this season they are top of the league on goal difference, and Oyedele is clear that he wants to play a part in their potential success.

Oyedele told Legia Warsaw’s official website: “For me, it’s above all a huge chance to make a name for myself by playing for Legia.

“When I came here, I had a talk with the coach. He presented me with a detailed and extensive plan. Of course, I realize what a great club Legia is. I want to win the championship with the club and be part of this winning team. I’m very excited.”

Manchester United helped Oyedele

Maxi Oyedele did not quite add his name to the illustrious list of youth graduates to debut for Manchester United – but he did represent the Red Devils in pre-season.

Oyedele provided an assist against Rangers in pre-season and performed well, and he believes the experience was very beneficial, and has helped prepare him for his new adventure at Legia Warsaw.

He said: “Participating in the pre-season training camp was particularly important for me, where I learned a lot. Now I feel well prepared for the next step.

“I want to show what I have learned and continue to develop in order to achieve my goals.”

Asked to describe what type of player he is, the 19-year-old said he would rather let his action do the talking.

He responded: “I am a mobile player who moves quickly around the pitch. I have good ball control. However, I would like you to evaluate me as a player by seeing what I can do on the pitch.”

Oyedele was not quite signed in time to play in Legia’s Europa Conference League qualifier last night against Kosovan side Drita.

Legia won 2-0, and Oyedele might have a chance to play in the second leg.

United have a sell-on clause included as part of the deal to sell Oyedele, so there will be real optimism the midfielder can become a big success in Poland.
