Matthijs de Ligt squad number
Ahead of Matthijs de Ligt’s signing being confirmed, we took a look at his most likely squad number. Our prediction was that he will take the number four shirt.
And this is exactly the number De Ligt has been given, taking the shirt which was last season worn by loanee Sofyan Amrabat.
If Amrabat is brought back, which has not been ruled out, he will be looking for a new number.
Noussair Mazraoui squad number
Noussair Mazraoui‘s potential number was also one we predicted. Mazraoui wears the number three shirt for Morocco, and this made a lot of sense for him to take.
There are no surprises, with Manchester United now confirming Maazraoui has the number three shirt.
This was last worn by Eric Bailly, who was released last September.
With these formalities confirmed, Mazraoui and De Ligt can be registered ahead of this weekend’s opening Premier League fixture.
An injury to Luke Shaw enhances the chances Mazraoui will be called upon in some capacity against Fulham, with Tyrell Malacia also out.
