Manchester United manager Erik ten Hag has finally provided an update on Tyrell Malacia’s fitness for the Red Devils.
After a promising debut season at Manchester United, Tyrell Malacia has been hugely frustrated as the Dutch defender has been out of action for the Red Devils for over a year now.
United fans were relieved to see Malacia back in Carrington but the Dutch left-back failed to make the pre-season tour squad to America.
However, this was probably for the best with Leny Yoro suffering a metatarsal injury, which will keep him out of action for three months.
So Malacia featuring on the US tour may well have not been the best idea.

Erik ten Hag provides Tyrell Malacia injury update
Whilst Malacia’s absence from the US tour squad could be a benefit to his recovery, there is still no word out of United about when the Dutchman will return.
However, speaking to the media, manager Erik ten Hag has finally provided an update on the fitness of the former Feyenoord left-back.
“He is now in a good place, but he is not here because I only took players who could play games or be available for team training,” Ten Hag said as per the Daily Mail.
“He is not that far, but he is now in a progress situation. At a relatively short notice, he can again return into team training and then into team performance in games.”
When asked by the media how long fans may have to wait for his return, Ten Hag said: “I think it would be possible in two months.”
Malacia’s injury update explains Noussair Mazraoui pursuit
United’s current first-choice left-back Luke Shaw was one of the most injured players for the Red Devils so cover was always needed.
In Malacia, United had that cover but this mysterious injury to the Dutchman has meant that multiple different players have played in that role.
Whether it’s Sofyan Amrabat, Diogo Dalot, or Aaron Wan-Bissaka, United have had to get creative and this may well explain the rush to sign Bayern Munich’s Noussair Mazraoui.
Mazraoui reportedly wants to join United and the versatility of the Moroccan could well be key as Malacia recovers from his injury layoff.
