Mason Greenwood showed there is nothing to worry about with a lively performance for Manchester United.
The young striker has had a difficult start to the campaign, only scoring three times before Sunday’s match.
This goal was his fourth, and it is worth noting he has now netted each one in a different competition, the Carabao Cup, Champions League, Premier League, and now the FA Cup.

Greenwood electrifies United
United’s attack has often been pretty good over the past year. At other times it has struggled, and on certain occasions it has been electric.
When you think back to United’s best attacking performances, Greenwood has usually been involved.
United have struggled to break down big teams this season. The best two home performances have been sparked by Greenwood. These were the 5-0 home win over Leipzig and Sunday’s match against Liverpool. The United livewire netted the team’s opener in both.
The teenager has had a lot to deal with this season off the pitch as well as feeling pressure of trying to live up to last year’s 17-goal contribution on it.
There was something particularly impressive about the way he scored this goal. Charging down the right to meet a Marcus Rashford pass, Greenwood’s first touch was perfect, before he clinically struck the ball into the bottom corner. Andy Robertson’s desperate attempt to put him off fell on deaf ears.

The spark we have been waiting for
United are top of the Premier League largely without a big impact from Greenwood this season.
This certainly makes you wonder how much better the team can become if Greenwood, and Anthony Martial, begin to really click.
United need Greenwood to kick on now and score regularly. We hoped it might happen after his goal against Leipzig in October, and then versus West Ham in December.
In terms of what we want to see, this performance was perfect from Greenwood. He even added a third assist of the season by setting up Marcus Rashford’s goal. It was the kind of impact we have been waiting for.
