Manchester United forward Marcus Rashford was quick to congratulate his former Barcelona teammate Lamine Yamal after the World Cup final.
Spain beat Argentina in the 2026 World Cup final, and the bad news for Manchester United is that Lisandro Martinez was injured in the process.
It was Ferran Torres who scored the decisive goal for Spain, while 19-year-old Lamine Yamal played the entire match on the right flank for the new world champions.
Marcus Rashford wanted to stay at Barcelona after spending a season on loan with the Spanish giants. He also made it clear that he grew close to Yamal during his temporary stay.

Marcus Rashford congratulates Lamine Yamal on World Cup win
Yamal quickly turned to social media to celebrate Spain’s World Cup win over Argentina, and United forward Rashford showed support in the comment section.
On Instagram, Rashford wrote: “Almost completed the set” to his former Barcelona teammate.
At Barcelona together, Rashford won La Liga alongside Yamal, as well as the 2026 Spanish Supercup.
Despite Rashford wanting to stay at Camp Nou, Barcelona rejected the chance to sign him this summer.
Rashford is now expected to stay at Old Trafford for 2026/27, meaning the only chance he has of sharing a pitch with Yamal is if United draw Barcelona in the Champions League.

During his early years at Old Trafford, Rashford said playing for United was “everything”.
He was in love with the club and at times it seemed like he would never leave.
Now at 28 years old, he is being given a second chance to repair his relationship with United and get back to representing the club he grew up with.

Rashford has already won the FA Cup, League Cup and Europa League with United, but he will want more. United’s ambitions are to win the Premier League by 2028 and challenge for another Champions League trophy.
