Marcus Rashford is finally enjoying his football away from Manchester United once more as he advances in the Champions League with Aston Villa.

Rashford left United in January, opting to move to Unai Emery’s Villans, who despite an up-and-down Premier League campaign – find themselves in a Champions League quarter-final.

Rashford helped Villa in both legs of the round of 16 but particularly impressed in the home tie on Wednesday evening.

Emery lauded Rashford for his performance, as the Englishman picked up another assist for fellow January signing Marco Asensio. But Rashford’s new manager wasn’t the only one impressed by his performance.

Lamine Yamal impressed with Marcus Rashford

Fellow Champions League superstar Lamine Yamal, who also shone this week, showed his appreciation for Marcus Rashford on Instagram.

The Manchester United academy graduate posted a selection of images with the caption ‘qualified’.

Comments flooded in, including from the Barcelona megastar, Yamal. He commented with a selection of emojis including the ‘top’ icon, showing his admiration for Rashford.

Several other notable names were also present. Asensio showed some love for Rashford, as did fellow Villa teammates Emiliano Martinez, Youri Tielemans and the nearly United-bound Leon Bailey.

Former Manchester United stars Angel Gomes and DJ Buffonge were also in and among the post comments.

Marcus Rashford’s solid Champions League performance

If Rashford’s fine performance wasn’t noticeable to the naked eye, it certainly reflected in his stats on a dazzling Champions League night at Villa Park.

The big question really is, why couldn’t he do it in a Manchester United shirt?

Sir Jim Ratcliffe has acknowledged Rashford’s fine performances, as has Ruben Amorim, but there’s yet to be an indication as to whether he’ll remain at Old Trafford after his loan ends.

Villa have a buy clause for Rashford worth just £40m. Given his showings so far, it wouldn’t be a huge surprise to see this triggered.
