Marcus Rashford named in England squad under Thomas Tuchel

Rashford hadn’t played for England since March 2024, when he featured for 15 minutes against Brazil at Wembley. Following this game, he was left on the bench against Belgium, before not making the squad in June or for the European Championships.

Tuchel has always been a fan of Rashford and it was always likely he would call him back to the England squad at the first opportunity.

Rashford was named in the first England camp for Tuchel ahead of games against Albania and Latvia. Now, the 27-year-old has shared a message on his Instagram story.

“Never stop believing. Can’t wait to get started.”

Rashford accompanied this with an image of him during the national anthem for England, which showcases how much the call-up means to him.

Thomas Tuchel keen to push Marcus Rashford back to his best

After announcing his squad, Tuchel had a press conference to explain his decisions, with the Rashford decision among those to be discussed as quoted by Manchester World.

“I had the strong feeling we should nominate him to push him to stay on that level. To not fall back on old routines”, Tuchel explained.

“His work rate, his defensive impact, his hard work in counter-pressing, his tracking back on position was impressive.”

Rashford also has an impressive England record which makes his inclusion smart considering this is Tuchel’s first squad.
