Manchester United forward Marcus Rashford came off the bench in England’s victory over Croatia in the 2026 World Cup.

While Marcus Rashford’s club future is up in the air, the Manchester United forward has kept his focus on the World Cup with England.

England beat Croatia 4-2 in their opening group stage match and Rashford scored the fourth for the Three Lions after coming off the bench to replace Anthony Gordon.

Rashford matched Sir Bobby Charlton’s record in the process, but there were a few scares about his fitness in the final minutes.

What’s YOUR message to Marcus Rashford after Barcelona’s deal for Anthony Gordon?

Should Man Utd use this reality check to try and bring Rashford back?

Thomas Tuchel updates on Marcus Rashford’s fitness

In the closing minutes against Croatia, The Standard reported that Marcus Rashford was spotted holding his hamstring, sparking concerns about a potential injury.

As per Transfermarkt, Rashford only missed three games in the entirety of 2025/26 through injury or illness, so a setback now would be a real blow for the 28-year-old.

However, England manager Thomas Tuchel has calmed any concerns, revealing that there are no major injury worries among any of his players.

“Let’s see, I hope they are ok. I didn’t want to take any risk,” Tuchel said.

The main concern was the fitness of Declan Rice, but Tuchel also dismissed any injury rumours around Rashford.

Marcus Rashford did enough to earn starting spot

The rivalry between Rashford and Gordon is an interesting one this summer.

Especially after Barcelona signed Gordon and dismissed the £26m buy option to sign Rashford permanently.

It was Gordon who got the nod from Tuchel to start England’s opening game, but the new Barcelona signing had little impact up front.

It was in the second half when England stepped up their level, and Rashford’s introduction from the bench was an impactful one.

With a goal to his name and a bright attacking performance, Rashford did enough to justify a starting position in the next game against Ghana.
