England qualified for the World Cup with a thumping 10-0 win over San Marino.
Harry Maguire started the game and opened the scoring after six minutes, before being substituted at half-time.
The goal means Maguire is England’s highest scoring defender of all-time, overtaking John Terry and Jack Charlton with last night’s goal.
After the game, Maguire took to Instagram to celebrate reaching the World Cup.
Maguire’s goal celebration was more low-key here than it was against Albania on Friday night.
His international goalscoring exploits do not tell us too much about the shape he will come back to United in.
Two clean sheets should improve his confidence further, but the standard of the opposition has to be taken into account.
Marcus Rashford pulled out of the England squad and has still not represented his country since the final of Euro 2020.
He tweeted not long after the final whistle when qualification and England’s highest ever margin of victory in a competitive game was confirmed.
Rashford has reportedly been doing extra training at Carrington during the international break.
England do not play again until March, which gives Maguire and Rashford ample time to focus on their club form.
Attention now turns to the weekend clash with Watford, where United need a big performance and result after the derby humbling before the international break.
