There was a surprise face in Manchester United’s Sunday training session… Marcos Rojo.
The Argentine has been out of the first team picture all 2020, after being sent out on loan to Estudiantes in January.
Rojo returned in the summer, but there were no takers for him during the transfer window, with his high wages prohibitive towards an exit.
The defender shared an image on his Instagram page training alongside new signing Alex Telles.
What’s next for Rojo?
Rojo will play no part for United against Paris Saint-Germain this week as he was not named in the 25-man Champions League squad.
The transfer window in Russia is open for another week, and while a move is a slim possibility for Rojo, the fact he is now training with the first team suggests he will stay.
United could still decide to use Rojo in Premier League games, and while he is here, it makes sense to re-integrate him.
While United are paying his wages, there is little sense ostracising him.
Rojo may even be able to provide some much needed competition at the back.
