Ralf Rangnick says Manchester United could sign as many as 10 players this summer. It sounds extreme based on what United are used to, but it is entirely logical.
United right now are a mess, and need a gigantic overhaul. Several players are set to leave on a free at the end of the season.
The interim boss spoke after the game, commenting: “There will be a rebuild here. Six, seven, maybe ten new players will come.”
Rangnick made a habit of 10 plus players at RB Leipzig while sporting director, and he will be pointing the club in the right direction.

Fitting in 10 new players
Rangnick had yesterday explained that he considered changing goalkeeper is not a priority, although a new manager could feel differently.
Looking at last night’s defeat to Liverpool, every player is replaceable, and should at least have to compete for their places. 10 new players would solve that.
It is quite possible United take Rangnick’s advice and go for a large scale overhaul. While cost may limit United from doing all of these deals, here is a look at how the team could look if they do sign 10 top players…
De Gea: United’s shot-stopper would return in goal, with an all-new defence. If the same problems persist by 2023, it will be time to change goalkeeper too, as by then, everyone else may have been ditched.
Lamptey: Brighton full-back Tariq Lamptey is a good attacking full-back with the skillset United need at the position. Speaking after the match with the Seagulls in February, Rangnick said he had to adjust his tactics against him.
Timber: Ajax centre-back Jurrien Timber is viewed as the Netherlands’ top star, already an international. Crucially, Erik ten Hag is already coaching him, and The Mirror report he is on United’s list.
Rudiger: Chelsea defender Antonio Rudiger is available as a free agent this summer when his contract expires. The Mirror report United’s interest.
Gomez: United are tracking Anderlecht left-back, The Sun report. The Spain under-21 international has six goals and 15 assists this season, an impressive record.
Tielemans: Belgian international Youri Tielemans is set to leave Leicester this summer. With his contract expiring in 2023, The Mail report he will be available at a cut-price £25 million.
Laimer: A star admired by Rangnick from RB Leipzig, all action midfielder Konrad Laimer also has a contract set to run out in 2023. The Austrian is on United’s list, German outlet BILD report.
Nkunku: France international Christian Nkunku can play up front or as an attacking midfielder. He has 30 goals and 18 assists this season for RB Leipzig and ESPN report Rangnick has instructed United’s recruitment staff to keep watch.
Antony: Brazilian winger Antony has been tearing it up for Ten Hag’s Ajax and he was badly missed in the Dutch Cup final, out through injury. Telegraph report he is a top target.
Gakpo: One of the scorers in the KNVB Final against Ajax, Cody Gakpo has 18 goals and 15 assists this season. He can play across the frontline, preferring a role on the left.
Nunez: If United want a traditional centre-forward, look no further than Benfica’s Darwin Nunez. He has 33 goals in 38 games this season, and The Athletic report he is a top target for the Red Devils.
