Manchester United boss Ruben Amorim brought through a number of young players at Sporting and may hope to do the same at Old Trafford.
There has been little time for Ruben Amorim to sit and celebrate beating Manchester City on Sunday afternoon.
The busy festive period is here and that means Manchester United are now preparing for another game, taking on Tottenham Hotspur in the EFL Cup.
Amorim will be busy preparing for that game and Untied fans will be fascinated to see the squad he selects.
Marcus Rashford and Alejandro Garnacho were axed from the squad to face City and it’s unclear whether they will be back in contention.
Amorim may also have plans to bring young players into the mix given his history in terms of blooding academy players at Sporting.

Manchester United talent expected to step up
27 academy players made their first-team debut during Amorim’s spell at Sporting.
Nuno Mendes, Goncalo Inacio and Geovany Quenda are the headline names from that crop with Amorim more than willing to bring young players into the fold.
United have bags of talent in the youth ranks and Amorim has already taken a liking to Godwill Kukonki.
The Daily Mail now claim that there is a ‘growing belief’ that Jack Moorhouse will step up into first-team training.
It’s suggested that Moorhouse’s two-goal display against Southampton over the weekend has set tongues wagging.
There are hopes inside United that Moorhouse will be in first-team training having proven himself as the ‘one of the best ball carriers’ in the ranks.
Amorim watched on as Moorhouse impressed over the weekend and the midfielder may not even go out on loan in January with first-team training chances potentially imminent.

Who is United talent Jack Moorhouse?
Moorhouse hails from Manchester and has come up in the United youth ranks.
The 19-year-old has suffered a number of injury problems in recent times but those have been put down to growing pains.
Primarily an attack-minded midfielder, Moorhouse made his return to starting action in November after more than a year out.
Eligible to play for England or the Republic of Ireland, Moorhouse may be in demand on the international stage down the line.
Moorhouse’s priority will be first-team chances with United and all he can do is keep impressing Amorim – and he appears to made a good start.
