Manchester United youngster Facundo Pellistri has been reflecting on a strong start at Granada.

Despite failing to win any of the two games he has played for Granada yet, it has been a very strong start for Facundo Pellistri at the Spanish club.

Granada don’t win games much anyway, just two all season. The Manchester United loanee has helped them achieve two draws – one of which came away from home at Barcelona.

Pellistri hit the headlines by scoring a goal and providing an assist at the Nou Camp, the youngest opposition player to do so since Samuel Eto’o back in 2000.

Facundo Pellistri says he picked the right club

There is a homely feel for Facundo Pellistri at Granada, due to the recent appointment for Uruguayan boss Alex Medina as manager.

There are two more Uruguayans in the Granada playing team, and Pellistri said he needed no persuasion to join the club.

In comments reported by South American news outlet Infobae, Pellistri explained his stance.

He said: “I always wanted to come to Granada because of the conviction of the coaching staff. I didn’t think twice and decided that Granada was the ideal place. I will contribute what I know on the field to try to ensure that we all achieve the goal together, which is what we all want.”

Pellistri added that Granada has lived up to everything he hoped for early on.

He commented: “Since I arrived, everything I talked about before I saw at the club, the adaptation was very easy. The good atmosphere in the locker room and among teammates is real.”

Granada are in 19th place and have to fight to escape relegation, which won’t be easy. However, going unbeaten in his first two games, despite no wins, has left him feeling optimistic.

He said: “By playing like we are doing and with all the days left, it will be possible to achieve the goal. Furthermore, the fans are incredible and it is a unique feeling to play in the stadium.”

Manchester United loanee wanted to play

Even though Facundo Pellistri played more minutes this season than in his previous ones for Manchester United, it just was not enough.

His agent blasted manager Erik ten Hag and believes Pellistri has no future at Old Trafford if the Dutchman stays on as manager.

If that is the case, then Pellistri is playing to put himself in the shop window. His big performance away at Barcelona will have prompted interested teams to sit up and take notice.
