Manchester United winger Facundo Pellistri had one of the best games of his career last night for Granada.

Facundo Pellistri left Manchester United on loan in January because he wanted to play regular football.

So far at Granada, so good. He has two starts from two matches, with the relegation threatened La Liga side keen to use him as much as possible.

Pellistri has helped Granada to two draws in their opening games, including a valuable point away at Barcelona last night.

Facundo Pellistri stars v Barcelona

Facundo Pellistri created Granada’s first goal and then scored their second, giving his team a 2-1 lead.

Barcelona eventually pegged them back, with the game ending 3-3, with Pellistri playing 80 minutes.

This was the kind of immediate impact Pellistri needed, and Granada are thankful to have him. They are currently in 19th place, seven points adrift of safety, so every point counts.

Granada boss praises Pellistri

Granada manager Alex Medina had warned there would be little time for Pellistri to adjust, because his team needing an instant impact from all their January additions. He took the message on board.

Medina spoke to the press after the draw at the Nou Camp, and expressed his happiness with Manchester United loanee Pellistri.

He told AS: “When I talked to him about coming I told him what I wanted from him. The other day he had a great game, he is showing his ability and personality.

“I am happy with his signing. And it will serve to show his football, which in Manchester was reduced.”

Pellistri has never scored a goal for Manchester United in a competitive game, although did provide an assist earlier this season and last season.

Whatever the future holds for him, this stint at Granada looks like it could be a valuable one for his development, so it is great to see him grasping the opportunity.
