Fresh off the heels of reported advanced interest in Donny van de Beek, Manchester United may also have another target in mind.

The Sun report United are paying attention to RB Salzburg forward Patson Daka.

Daka scored 24 goals in 31 league appearances for the Austrian side last season.

In all competitions he netted 27 goals and provided a further 12 assists, in a total of 45 games. One of these goals came in the Champions League.

The Zambian international is just 21-years-old and is a highly rated prospect.

This past week he netted two goals in a 2-2 draw against Liverpool in a friendly.

Cheap and talented

The Sun‘s report claims United would have to pay around £20 million to land Daka.

Even if this is slightly on the low side, United should be able to get a deal done for under £30 million. Compared to the type of fees United often pay, this would be a bargain.

Daka has thrived at Salzburg since Erling Haaland was sold to Dortmund in January.

He told Goal at the time: “When you’re given this kind of opportunity, you have to utilise it and grab it with both your hands and I felt like this is the time now.”

He plays mainly as a striker but has also featured on the right wing too.

United need a younger back-up striker to Anthony Martial, with Odion Ighalo’s loan set to expire in January.

Daka is less proven than Moussa Dembele of Lyon, but he would be half the price.

United need to look at sensible deals and Daka would be a good investment in this market.

His recent brace against Liverpool may have also proved a point that he can translate his form in Austria, to the Premier League.

Back in April, we picked Daka out among our list of five exciting players United could target for under £30 million each.

United are said to be one of several clubs interested, but were the only team named in the report. He is under contract at Salzburg until 2024.
