Manchester United have made a ‘sensational signing’ says Ornstein, Rio Ferdinand views him among best in the world for his age

Manchester United have made four signings so far this transfer window and could yet add more.

With time ticking down until the transfer deadline, Manchester United fans can be somewhat satisfied with the club’s business so far.

Joshua Zirkzee, Leny Yoro, Matthijs de Ligt and Noussair Mazraoui have all joined the club, swapping Champions League football for Ineos’ Manchester United project.

From the quartet, the player which generated the most excitement was French wonderkid Leny Yoro, who turned his back on Real Madrid’s interest to join the Red Devils.

Leny Yoro tipped to be a success

Manchester United fans loved what they saw of Leny Yoro in the 45 minutes he played against Rangers in pre-season.

Unfortunately he suffered an injury in his second pre-season game, later undergoing surgery on a fractured metatarsal.

This merely delays his Manchester United success story, and the signing of Matthijs de Ligt should deter the temptation to rush him back.

Speaking to Five, journalist David Ornstein expressed his view that Leny Yoro will prove to be a very astute piece of business in the long-term.

He said: “Leny Yoro, that was a massive piece of recruitment that I think with time will be seen as a shrewd move.

“A player wanted by Real Madrid and Liverpool, seen as a generational talent, still a teenager, and already unfortunately injured and having to undergo surgery on a metatarsal break, but I think that will be a sensational acquisition.”

Rio Ferdinand talks up Leny Yoro

Former Manchester United defender Rio Ferdinand spoke to Leny Yoro before he signed for the club, helping to persuade him to move to Old Trafford.

Ferdinand says he liked hearing how receptive Yoro was to what he was saying on their call, hinting that he was roped into the process by technical director Jason Wilcox, who he played alongside at Leeds.

The club legend added that he believes there is no player in world football who is as good as Yoro is at his current age, 18.

Ferdinand said: “Leny Yoro being a centre-back, a young kid, I made a similar type of move, had that experience. I love watching and chatting to the young players, seeing what they are like as human beings. If any of the young players want advice I’m always there

“With that in mind i just reached out to Leny just to see, if he needed to speak to anyone about this to make the right decision.

“I watched this kid a few times now, watched highlights, and I just feel at his age he’s the best in the world, no one near him at that age with the experience he’s got at that age, no one comes close, his ceiling is super high.”

Ferdinand was on record talking up Yoro before he moved to United, and is thrilled he made the decision he did. The injury is a brief hurdle to overcome, the future still looks very promising for United.
