Manchester United fans hope to get first glimpse of Sancho and Varane this week

Time is ticking down until the new season and Manchester United’s two major summer signings are yet to be seen. That could all quickly change.

Ole Gunnar Solskjaer told the club website after the friendly with Brentford; “We’ve got everyone in on Monday.”

Potentially that means Jadon Sancho could be back at Carrington. He has only been for a brief visit for his official photoshoot and for a medical. This was back on July 13 with the images released 10 days later.

Sancho has been on holiday since, due to England’s late finish at Euro 2020.

Last night he uploaded images on his Instagram from his holiday, but it is unclear whether he is still away, or already back in Manchester on Monday as Solskjaer’s comments suggest.

United now have two weeks before the season starts. A fortnight of solid training sessions with his new teammates could do Sancho the world of good before the season.

Next Saturday there is a friendly at home to Everton and this is likely to see Sancho make his first United appearance, even if just for 20 or 30 minutes. So it would be ideal if he is back to base this Monday to link up with his teammates.

The MEN reports Sancho is likely to begin training on Monday, with England teammates Harry Maguire and Luke Shaw due back too. Marcus Rashford will not be involved as he is undergoing an operation.

United are also hoping to get David de Gea, Victor Lindelof and Paul Pogba back, along with Copa America stars Fred and Edinson Cavani.

Sancho will be the highlight of course, so keep an eye out for pictures of him training at Carrington for the first time with his teammates.

Varane also due in Manchester

Incoming signing Raphael Varane is also expected to jet into Manchester to seal his move to United.

With a requirement to quarantine, it is unclear when Varane will be able to join his teammates. The time will be minimal as an elite sportsman. However, it could be enough to delay his medical by two or three days and it is possible Varane only gets to train with his teammates next week.

What we could get, are photos of Varane leaving Madrid and flying into Manchester. For a start, that will be good to see.

July was a big month in securing both of these transfers, we just need both to feel a little more ‘real’ by seeing them join their new teammates and start preparing for the rapidly approaching 2021/22 season.

After a weekend of little to nothing happening amid a cancelled friendly, if Monday ends with photos of Sancho in training and Varane having arrived in Manchester, it will represent a day of progress.
