Manchester United announce new contract for Anthony Elanga

Exciting academy graduate Anthony Elanga has signed a contract extension at Manchester United.

The new deal runs until June 2026 with an option to extend an extra year to 2027.

Elanga has played in two of the three matches Ralf Rangnick has taken charge of, coming off the bench at home to Crystal Palace before starting in a rotated side against Young Boys in the Champions League.

After putting pen to paper, Elanga spoke to the club website about how happy he is to have reiterated that his long-term desire is to make the grade at Old Trafford.

“My ultimate ambition has always been to play for Manchester United,” he said.

“The standard is extremely high, but this contract is another important moment in my journey. This is the perfect environment to take the next step, with world-class players and coaches to learn from every day.

“I am overjoyed that the Club has shown such faith in my development, and I want to thank my family and all of the staff for their ongoing support.

“I know that with hard-work and dedication comes opportunity at this special club and I cannot wait to continue my progress here. Glory to God always.”

He also took to Instagram to celebrate the news which is a perfect early Christmas present for Elanga, his family and United fans.

With fixtures mounting up over the festive period and many first-teamers recovering after the Covid outbreak, Elanga will hope for more opportunities ahead.

Ole Gunnar Solskjaer did not play him in the league at all this season and the fact that Rangnick did it in his very first game shows how much he rates him.

Now, he has wasted no time in getting Elanga’s future resolved and will hope to impart the benefit of his experience to the Swedish talent.

He also has seven goals in seven games for Sweden’s Under-21 side, which is impressive form and should bring confidence he would hope to bring to the United first team if he gets a chance in the weeks and months ahead.
