Manchester United’s momentous FA Cup third round win against Arsenal was all about a goalkeeper.

Altay Bayindir was the hero, an unlikely one too, saving a penalty in normal time, and another one in the shootout to clinch the victory.

And you might have missed it – but there was a notable face warming up with Bayindir before kick-off, joining him and Andre Onana.

This was young talent Hubert Graczyk, a player many fans may not have even heard of.

Hubert Gracyzk signed with Manchester United in the summer, after his contract with Arsenal’s academy expired.

It was a very different scenario to Manchester United poaching Chido Obi-Martin from the Gunners’ academy in the summer.

Graczyk’s deal expired and Arsenal chose not to renew the young goalkeeper – but Manchester United identified a part he could play.

With young talents Radek Vitek out on loan, along with Elyh Harrison, Manchester United needed an extra pair of hands for the under-21 side.

Graczyk slotted straight in and the 21-year-old has gone onto play in three games, most often backing up Dermot Mee.

But at the weekend, there was an opportunity for Graczyk to move up a rung.

He travelled with Manchester United’s squad that went to his former side Arsenal for the FA Cup clash.

Graczyk trained on the pitch at The Emirates before kick-off, seen warming up with Andre Onana and co.

While he was not named on the bench, this was a memorable opportunity for the young Polish goalkeeper.

Graczyk celebrates win vs Arsenal

Graczyk was clearly very happy to be part of Manchester United’s victory against his former club.

He wrote on Instagram: “What a week! Great result and Great to see some old faces.”

Manchester United’s under-21s were due to play Leeds on Friday night in the first academy game of 2025. But the away game was called off due to icy conditions.

This opportunity mixing with United’s first team will spur Graczyk on to continue his development at Carrington.
