Radek Vitek was the star of Manchester United’s first pre-season game back in early July.

Manchester United’s pre-season game against Rosenborg seems like a long time ago now. And the one standout memory from the fixture was the outstanding performance from Radek Vitek.

The young goalkeeper showcased his potential and unsurprisingly, loan interest followed.

United agreed to send Vitek on loan to Austrian Bundesliga side Blau-Linz, where he has been making a big impression.

Radek Vitek latest

Radek Vitek was hailed as ‘very talented’ by Blau-Linz’s sporting director and had an excellent start for the club.

The 21-year-old stood tall in a 3-0 win on his debut. before later putting in a man of the match performance in a win over their rivals LASK.

But then he suffered a MCL injury which kept him sidelined for two months before recently making his return in a 2-0 win over Red Bull Salzburg.

Vitek’s excellent season continued at the weekend as Blau-Winz recorded a 1-0 win away at Rapid Wien.

He has now kept four clean sheets in nine league games, and this latest performance was one of his most impressive.

Vitek made five saves on the way to keeping a clean sheet, with Rapid Wien having an expected goals tally of 1.27, which he was able to keep to 0.

The young goalkeeper was aerially dominant, making two high claims and six clearances with punches, doing his best to keep the ball out of the box.

Blau-Winz’s report lauded: “Radek Vitek was able to show his class again,” in reference to a particularly impressive diving save he kept out of the top corner.

FotMob rated Vitek’s performance 8.9/10, his best of the season so far, and his fifth rating out of nine which were 8.0 or above.

Elyh Harrison also impressing out on loan

Three years Vitek’s junior, another Manchester United goalkeeper is taking his first steps out on loan, Elyh Harrison.

Harrison, 18, is on loan at National League North side Chester, and has established himself as a regular starter.

In 14 league games for Chester this season, Harrison has conceded only 11 goals, an excellent return for any goalkeeper.

Vitek spent the second half of last season on loan at Accrington, and United will continue to keep pushing both goalkeepers up a level, until it comes to the point where a decision has to be made on their futures.
