Manchester United produced a fine performance to earn a 2-2 draw at bitter rivals Liverpool on Sunday afternoon.
Manchester United players had to give fans some form of hope in the first game of 2025.
2024 ended so poorly and United fans travelled to Anfield in hope of a big result and performance against Liverpool.
United were actually impressive both in and out of possession; a real sign of progress under Ruben Amorim.
Manuel Ugarte was superb, Bruno Fernandes impressed United fans and Rio Ferdinand praised the overall performance.
Lisandro Martinez and Amad Diallo scored the goals in a 2-2 draw with United well worth a point – and arguably more – against the Premier League leaders.

Manchester United suffer double injury scare
United fans can feel encouraged after that performance and will hope to see more of the same moving forward.
It wasn’t all good news from Anfield though as United picked up a couple of injury scares whilst securing that draw.
The MEN’s Tyrone Marshall noted on X that striker Rasmus Hojlund was limping after the final whistle.
Defender Matthijs de Ligt also had ice strapped to his leg having picked up a knock of his own at Anfield.
The hope is that these injuries are just bangs and bruises – the kind of thing you would expect to pick up in such a heated clash.
United will get both injuries looked at in the coming days though with Amorim no doubt hoping that neither De Ligt and Hojlund have suffered any significant damage.
No risks over Rasmus Hojlund and Matthijs de Ligt
The relentless festive period is now behind us and Amorim now has a full week of training with the United squad.
This no doubt comes as a relief to Amorim, who has been facing game after game ever since arriving from Sporting.
United’s next game comes at Arsenal in the FA Cup next Sunday, a game in which both Amorim and Mikel Arteta may be tempted to rotate.
If there are any issues for Hojlund and De Ligt this week, then there is no need to throw them into an FA Cup clash.
A full week without a game should give both players time to heal and rest up but there should be little pressure on either player to rush back for the clash at the Emirates Stadium.
Yes, United want to win and retain the FA Cup but there will be bigger games to come – and United don’t want any setbacks for the pair.
