A portion of the Manchester United fan base is growing increasingly frustrated at a lack of transfer business this summer.
With Manchester United linked to 24 midfield targets this summer, the only deal completed so far by the Red Devils is the £38 million signing of Ederson, which is still yet to be finalised.
There have been links to plenty of other targets, including advanced talks for Mateus Fernandes, but while other clubs are completing signings, United are taking their time.
Or are they? The Premier League window has only been open since June 15th, and Ineos’ track record in the summer suggests United are still on track to make five signings.

How would YOU spend Man United’s rumoured £250m transfer budget?💰
Would you go big on the midfield, or should United spread out the budget?
Man United are sticking to their transfer timeline
There has already been a lot of movement in the Premier League transfer market this summer, so it is understandable why some United fans are getting twitchy.
But in their two summers in charge so far, Ineos have made five signings each year, including a very successful 2025 window.
If we look back at when those five signings were made, it paints the full picture.
- Matheus Cunha – June 1st
- Diego Leon – July 5th
- Bryan Mbeumo – July 21st
- Benjamin Sesko – August 9th
- Senne Lammens – September 1st
At this point last summer, United had only completed one deal: the £62.5m signing of Matheus Cunha, which was simplified by his release clause at Wolves.
The Bryan Mbeumo transfer saga dragged on before being completed in July, while Benjamin Sesko and Senne Lammens were both fairly late arrivals in the summer.
Now the Ederson deal is agreed… WHO SHOULD BE MAN UTD’S NEXT TARGET?
Let us know who should be signing number two…
Man United’s transfer business should not be rushed
The message here is that United are on schedule. Their schedule.
United want three midfield signings, and ideally Michael Carrick will want arrivals ready to take part in pre-season training in 2026.

But just because United have not already signed off on three midfield deals doesn’t mean it isn’t going to happen at all this summer.
The Mateus Fernandes saga will rumble on in the background, but Ineos have experience of getting deals done. Fans can still expect as many as five new signings this summer, just like they have seen in previous windows.
