Brazilian media are reporting that Manchester United are now monitoring a Premier League forward as a potential transfer target.
It may not be a priority for Manchester United this summer, but a new striker signing could arrive at Old Trafford this summer to compete with Benjamin Sesko.
United will compete in four competitions next season after securing a return to the Champions League, so Michael Carrick will want extra depth up front.

Man United linked to Igor Thiago
According to Brazilian outlet RTI Esporte, United are monitoring Brentford forward Igor Thiago and are interested in signing him this summer.
Premier League champions Arsenal are also credited with interest in the Brazilian forward.
In the 2025/26 season, Thiago finished second to Erling Haaland in the Premier League golden boot race with 22 goals for Brentford.
United’s interest in Thiago could depend on the future of Joshua Zirkzee. The Brazilian could be targeted as a replacement if the Dutch forward leaves.

Igor Thiago has been disappointing in the 2026 World Cup
While United are showing interest in World Cup star Crysencio Summerville, Thiago’s fate at the summer tournament has been the complete opposite.
Thiago is competing with Matheus Cunha for a starting spot in the Brazil team, and the Brentford star got the nod to start in their opener against Morocco.
In Brazil’s 1-1 draw with Morocco, Thiago was slammed by Brazilian media for his wasteful performance.

Brazilian outlet O Globo wrote: “Mistimed his shot and couldn’t finish. He helped pressure the opposing defenders, fought for space, but produced very little and was substituted in the 16th minute of the second half.”
If United’s recruitment team are paying close attention to the World Cup, they may be rethinking their interest in Thiago.
